Chinwe Ezinna Oriji was awarded the Carter G. Woodson Predoctoral Fellowship from The Carter G. Woodson Institute for African American and  African Studies at the University of Virginia. This fellowship is a two-year residential research fellowship awarded to scholars who focus on Africa and/or the African Diaspora. Chinwe will be using these two years to work on her dissertation tentatively titled, "Race in Africa, Africa as Diaspora: The Racialization of Postcolonial Nigerians in the U.S." She is also the founder of Unispora.com, which serves to elevate marginalized voices within immigrant and refugee communities around the world.
