The Center for Mexican American Studies is pleased to announce the 2010 CMAS Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series:
George I. Sánchez Memorial Lecture in the Social Sciences and Education

Jovita González Memorial Lecture in the Arts and Humanities
John Morán González, Associate Professor, Department of English
"After the Axolotl: Latina/o Narrative in the Age of Neo-Liberalism"
Deborah Paredez, Associate Professor, Department of Theatre and Dance
"Blue and Full of Stars: Lupe Velez in Verse"
Emilio Zamora, Professor, Department of History
"Translating the First World War, My Continuing Work on José de la Luz Saenz"
The González and Sánchez lectures are presented by faculty associates of the Center for Mexican American Studies who are either in their first year of service at The University of Texas at Austin or who have been recently promoted to tenure or full professor. These two lecture series are a way to honor faculty while encouraging the further development of their research and mobility through the faculty ranks. For 2010, CMAS will host both lectures as part of one scheduled program.
The San Jacinto Conference Center is located on the first floor of the San Jacinto Residence Hall (SJH), corner of 21st Street and San Jacinto Boulevard. Entrances can be found on 21st Street and facing the Brazos Parking Garage. Public parking is available in the Brazos Parking Garage (BRG), 210 East Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
