Every year, students across the University of Texas at Austin, select five academic advisors to receive the Texas Exes James W. Vick Award. Holly Smith, a Senior Academic Advisor in the Economics Department, was chosen to receive this honor on Friday, January 27, 2017. 

The Texas Exes James Vick Award recognizes individuals who improve student's overall experience at UT through outstanding advising. Recipients are awarded $500 and are formally recognized at an awards ceremony held in March. 

Holly Smith has been an academic advisor in Economics for two years. She is a California native from Chino Hills, a suburb of Los Angeles. She received her bachelor's degree in Sociology at the University of California, Irvine and her master's degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Baylor University. During her free time, Holly enjoys traveling, coffee shops, and the outdoors. 

Fun Fact: She was able to achieve her goal of traveling to all 50 states before her 30th birthday.
