Professor Donna Kornhaber Visits the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
Professor Kornhaber and Oscar

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Donna Kornhaber, who traveled to Los Angeles in January for a series of events celebrating her being named a 2016 Academy Film Scholar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  While in LA, Professor Kornhaber attended a dinner with the Academy's grants committee and a reception with the general Academy membership, and she received a formal introduction to the Academy and the public at this year's Academy Film Scholars lecture.  Named an Academy Film Scholar this past August, Kornhaber received $25,000 in grant funding from the Academy for her project Women's Work: The Female Screenwriter and the Development of Early American Film.  She will return to the Academy in the years to come to present on the findings of her research.

"I am deeply grateful for the Academy's generous support of my work and was honored to have the opportunity to meet with the Academy grants committee, the Academy membership, and other Academy Film Scholars," said Professor Kornhaber.  "I look forward to presenting my research to the Academy in the future."

Professor Kornhaber joins 14 Academy Film Scholars who are currently working on research projects and 15 others whose works have already been published.

She was also featured in Austin Woman magazine, where she shares her favorite films directed by women.
