Webinar: Introduction to SW Asia / North Africa
Thu, January 31, 2013 | online (register for details)
4:15 PM - 5:15 PM
The outreach program at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas at Austin (part of Hemispheres) is presenting a webinar on "an introduction to Southwest Asia and North Africa" in two halves. Each half will run between 45 minutes to an hour in length.
- The first half will be presented on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 4:15 pm, and will define "the Middle East," and introduce the demographics of the region.
- The second will be presented on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 4:15 pm, and will break the larger "Middle East" region down into smaller sub-regions and offer a smaller glimpse into what makes each sub-region unique.
You do not have to attend both halves of the webinar, as different information will be covered in each half. Recordings will be made available afterward.
Note: this presentation has been delivered at several state conferences, including the Texas Council for the Social Studies and the Region VI Geography Conference. It does contain some revised information for 2012-13, most of which will be presented in the first half.
Attendees require a computer that is connected to the Internet with speakers. (No microphone is required). You will be sent a link on the morning of the day of the webinar with instructions on how to log in -- plan to log in a few minutes early to make sure your computer is working properly (there is a set-up wizard that will help you make sure your audio is turned on, etc.).
CPEs toward teacher re-certification will be issued for pre-registered Texas teachers upon successful completion of an exit quiz that may be taken immediately following the webinar or at any point up to 7 days afterward.
Multiple attendees may view the webinar on the same computer, provided that they take the exit quiz separately to receive credit. (Those who do not need/want credit do not need to complete the exit quiz).
Teachers from other states are welcome to attend and may also take the exit quiz and receive a certificate, however we are only authorized as a continuing education provider in the state of Texas. It is your responsibility to determine whether your home state will accept CPE/CEUs from an out-of-state provider.
