LA 101M: Liberal Arts to Career Course

Fall 2017: Unique #29945, Wednesdays, 3:30-5:30 PM, FAC 18, September 20 – November 8, 2017

Description: This course is designed to help you identify your strengths and talents as a liberal arts student, and to develop the necessary skills to conduct an effective job search from beginning to end. By the end of the course, you will have a targeted resume and cover letter, a professional LinkedIn profile, and the necessary tools to network, build your personal brand, and interview successfully. Lectures will be combined with discussions, in-class exercises, small group activities, and independent activities and assignments. You are expected to complete a series of assignments in a timely manner, and to participate actively in class discussions.

Schedule: This course meets a total of 7 times between September 20 and November 8. Due to the limited number of class meetings, attendance is mandatory.

Eligibility: Undergraduate Liberal Arts majors who have 60+ credit hours and an active BTT Gateway account and who are interested in learning to articulate the value of their major in whatever career path they pursue and have an
