The Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies is proud to announce that Pedro Suárez, Jr. will be the Commencement Speaker at the 21st Annual Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, May 20, 2017.

Pedro Suárez is currently a lead senior analyst at GMMB, a top political consulting and advertising firm in Washington, DC, where he works on creating better technology to improve multi-media campaigns for Democrats and progressive causes around the world. Living in the intersection of politics, media, and technology, he aims to create positive change in our country and the world with every precious media impression.
 
Formerly, he served as the Deputy Director of Paid Media Analytics at Hillary for America where he prioritized the use of resources to effectively reach key audiences across media platforms. He developed innovative tools to optimize media strategy, track and analyze competitive media efforts, and identify key target audiences for campaign messaging.
Before joining the campaign, Pedro had the privilege of working at BlueLabs where he worked alongside key senior members of the Obama for America 2012 analytics team.
 
Pedro started his career as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Fellow where he had the honor to work in U.S. Congressman Filemon Vela’s office and at the White House Office of Public Engagement.
 
He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where he double majored in Mexican American Studies and Mathematics. Pedro is a proud son of Mexican immigrants and was raised in a hardworking migrant farmworker family. He is appreciative of the public education he received in the Rio Grande Valley and in Dumas, Texas, which has served as a strong foundation for his career.
