Tuition Deadlines

  • There is no tuition deposit. The tuition bill is generated only after students begin to register for classes. Tuition balances must be paid no later than Monday, Aug. 29 at 5 PM or else one's courses for will be dropped and the late registration process will be needed (which is a headache best avoided!!). This additionally means that it's possible that one's seat will be lost in a course that is waitlisted. If the tuition balance is $0, one must still click the "Confirm Attendance" button on the bill, which locks in one's enrollment for the semester. Academic appointments (TA/AI) and fellowships cannot be approved until the tuition is paid, or until one's attendance is confirmed on what is otherwise a $0 tuition bill.
  • Single-Degree Students:  Tuition rates for 2016-17 are published here. Select the residency status that applies to you, then the College of Liberal Arts from the pull-down menu, and then 9 credit hours (3 courses). 9 credits comprises minimum required full-time status and is what most single-degree students do. The cost amounts to to $4,165/semester for TX residents and $8,256/semester for non-residents.
  • Dual-Degree Students:  Rates for 2016-17 are published here, and the link comes from the primary tuition page above. Rates vary by dual-degree program, and at least 12 credit hours (4 courses) per semester is customary in order to complete both degrees within 3 years instead of 4 years.
  • International students:  Whether an international student is receiving funding, s/he must pay a $125/fee per semester, as well as the cost of student insurance (unless covered by a benefits-eligible TA/AI position).
  • Payment Options:  Options may be seen on this page. All major credit cards - except Visa - are accepted.
  • In the first semester, there is a one-time $10 charge to obtain a student ID card (charged to What I Owe), and another one-time $10 charge for a General Property Deposit (charged to the tuition bill).
