NIH Public Access Policy Compliance

The NIH Public Access Policy ensures that the public has access to the published results of NIH funded research.  It requires scientists to submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication.  To help advance science and improve human health, the Policy requires that these papers are accessible to the public on PubMed Central no later than 12 months after publication.  To meet this deadline, final peer-reviewed manuscripts that arise from NIH funds need to be submitted to PMC upon acceptance for publication.  The full policy details can be found here.

As an NIH funded Center, faculty and students who benefit from the support services provided by the PRC are required to acknowledge the PRC center grant in all peer-reviewed publications and therefore must comply with the NIH Public Access Policy.

Here are the steps to work with PRC staff to ensure your publications receives a PMCID.
