Bo La Sohn



Bo La is currently a doctoral student in the Educational Policy and Planning program in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Texas at Austin, a trainee in the Population Research Center in the Department of Sociology, and a policy research intern at the Center for Public Policy Priorities.

Her research interests include underrepresented students in education, Asian-American students in education, educational administration and policy for underrepresented students, at risk students, dropouts, and students with middle achievement. Specifically, she investigate how different socioeconomic and cultural contexts affect students’ educational opportunity and experiences, as well as racial and ethnic identity among underrepresented students, including Asian-American, Pacific Islander, American Indian, Native Alaskan, and multiracial students. Her current research focuses on how individual students, families, schools, and peers mediate risk factors that characterize high, middle, and low achievers by race and ethnicity.
