When We Are Bold: an afternoon of storytelling, inspiration and conversation

Wednesday Mar 22, 2017 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM | Glickman Conference Center (CLA 1.302E)

The current political climate of rising discrimination and intolerance at home and abroad as well as a worsening climate change situation has ignited an activist fire within millions of women across the planet. Seeing millions march after the US Presidential inauguration is just the start…

In this context, join us in conversation with the editor and a contributing writer of When We Are Bold, Women Who Turn Our Upside Down World Right. Also joining the conversation will be local activists from The Miracle Foundation which advocates for orphaned children’s rights, Girls Empowerment Network which mentors young girls in Austin. They will talk about how women are defying the status quo and becoming the change they seek as they address some of the world’s leading challenges. We will be linking global concerns to local concerns, highlighting some of the powerful work being done right here in Texas to bring about change. The women you will meet at this event are determined to defend women’s rights and the health of our planet.

Join them for an afternoon of storytelling, inspiration and conversation.

Speakers include:

Rachel Vincent, editor, When We Are Bold: Women Who Turn Our Upside down World Right

Casey Camp-Horinek, Ponca Nation (Oklahoma), actor, Standing Rock activist and contributing author to When We Are Bold

Elizabeth Davis, President of the Miracle Foundation

Brittany Yelverton, Community Relations & Volunteer Manager of Girls Empowerment Network
