William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, will deliver his fourth President's State of the University Address, providing a report on ongoing and new initiatives of the university's administration.
The program, one of the commemorative activities in mid-September celebrating the 126th anniversary of The University of Texas at Austin in 1883, is open to the public.
The president's report also will be broadcast live Sept. 16 on the Web and on campus cable channels 25 and 45. The live streaming for the program will begin at 3:55 p.m. RealPlayer (free download) is needed to view the live webcast.
Powers is the 28th president of The University of Texas at Austin. Before taking office on Feb. 1, 2006, he was dean of the university's School of Law, where he won recognition for recruiting a world-class faculty and attracting highly diverse and talented students. He delivered his inaugural address on the state of the university on Sept. 19, 2006.
