Description:   Introduction to the study of key population processes, including population growth, age structure, patterns of fertility, mortality and migration.  A sociological framework will be used to examine the social origins of population change and the meaning and implications of population processes for society at large.   Texts:    Required textbook: Poston, D. and L. Bouvier. 2010. Population and Society: An Introduction to Demography. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. Available at the UT Co-op.   Grading:   Grades will be based on five exams, five assignments, and attendance.
