Now Hiring: Anthropology Faculty with affiliation in Native American and Indigenous Studies - Open Rank

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a faculty position in anthropology with an affiliation in Native American and Indigenous Studies, to start in Fall 2020. Applicants with a focus in sociocultural anthropology, or socioculturally informed applicants from the other subfields of anthropology, will be considered. Applicants from closely related disciplines are also encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those candidates working in Native North America and entering at the rank of Assistant Professor, although others will be considered. The successful candidate will show evidence of scholarly excellence commensurate with rank, of accomplished teaching, and of active engagement with Native American and/or Indigenous peoples, thought, politics, and cultures.

We conceive of the field of Native American / Indigenous Studies broadly, in terms of both geography and identity, and we are especially interested in work that critically engages these very definitional questions both theoretically and empirically. The new member of our faculty will join a vibrant anthropology department and will be encouraged to actively participate in the process of building the interdisciplinary Native American and Indigenous Studies Program at the University of Texas at Austin.

Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience. Position funding is pending budgetary approval. Background check conducted on applicant selected.
