Congratulations to Asian Studies major, Skyler Korgel, for induction into the Friar Society.

Earlier this month, Japanese and Asian Studies Honors senior, Skyler Korgel, was inducted along with 9 other students into the Friar Society, UT-Austin's oldest honor society.  The Friar Society was founded in 1911 to recognize students who have made significant contributions to the University of Texas and active members annually award the Friar Centennial Teaching Fellowship, the largest monetary award given to a UT undergraduate professor who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and student welfare as a prize of $25,000.  Notable alumni of the Friar Society include 4 past Governors of Texas, U.S. Reps. Lloyd Doggett, J.J. Pickle, and Jack Brooks, political consultant and commentator Paul Begala, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, and numerous federal judges and members of the Texas legislature.
