Helena Woodard is Associate Professor of English and a Junior Fellow in British Studies. She has taught at U.T. since 1991. Her courses include eighteenth-century British literature and African-American literature. She is the author of 'African-British Writings in the Eighteenth-Century: The Politics of Race and Reason' (1999) and articles on African American women's writings. More recently she has examined heritage sites, museums, and short stories that seek to recover the slave past.
