Narendra Singh Sarila is (so we believe) the first maharaja ever to have visited the University of Texas. As a young head of a princely state, he was Mountbatten's military aide-de-camp in 1947. He has served as India's Ambassador to Spain, Libya, and France. He is the author of The Shadow of the Great Game: The Untold Story of India's Partition, which became a bestseller in India after its publication last year.
