The Department of Classics is pleased to welcome members of the Texas Classical Association to our campus for the annual fall conference, November 2-3, 2012. The conference opens Friday afternoon with a keynote lecture by Dr. Gregory Bucher, Associate Professor of Classical and Near Eastern Studies at Creighton University and former Andrew W. Mellon Professor in Charge and Managing Committee member of the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome. Professor Bucher's talk, "A Complex Oedipus: The Tragedy of Edward Morbius", explores classical themes in the classic 1956 sci-fi movie "Forbidden Planet".
