Center of Mexican American Studies

The Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS) co-sponsors a number of events or functions during the academic year. A co-sponsorship by definition means that CMAS is not the host unit for the event or function.

We place a high priority on co-sponsoring events or functions that include an educational component and that benefits the public mission of The University of Texas at Austin.

CMAS can provide direct support such as securing a venue at the University, arranging catering for an event or function, or assisting with honorarium, lodging, and/or travel for a guest speaker. CMAS can also provide funding support for an activity or event via an inter-departmental transfer of funds or through a University check.

Requests that involve venues, catering, honorarium, lodging, and/or travel must be submitted at least six weeks prior to the scheduled event or function.

Requests that are solely for funding or solely for a room must be submitted at minimum five (5) working days prior to the scheduled event or function.  Room reservations do not require completion of the Public Programming Co-Sponsorship Form or a preliminary budget.

Only complete requests will be considered and are subject to the administrative and accounting rules of The University of Texas at Austin. There is no guarantee that requests will be granted.

If you or your organization would like to seek a co-sponsorship from CMAS, please e-mail Luis Guevara at, with the following information:

  1. Public Programming Co-sponsorship Form
  2. Preliminary budget for the event or function

CMAS faculty affiliates can propose support for conferences, symposia or lectures and should contact Luis Guevara directly.

Please contact Luis Guevara (512-475-6769 or for more information about our programming.
