"Forging a National Grow-your-own Latino/a Teacher Preparation Pipeline: How Strengthening the Teaching Profession Can Improve Student Learning."

Research indicates that teachers are the single most determining school-based factor that facilitates students’ higher-order learning, creativity, literacy and social skills in ways that positively predict student achievement, graduation rates and college eligibility among Latino youth. Dr. Angela Valenzuela (Associate Vice President, Division of Diversity and Community Engagement) and Patricia D. Lopez (doctoral candidate, Department of Educational Administration) present on their work as directors of the National Latino/a Education Research and Policy Project (NLERAP) that responds to this research as part of a national undertaking in five (5) cities across the nation. John C. Guerra, CEO of Aztec Worldwide, Inc. and NLERAP Council Board Member will moderate.
