"Latino/a Children’s Books: Issues and the Role of Librarian and Community Advocacy"

The program for this event will include two presentations one by Armando Rendón, author of the children’s book, "Noldo and his magical scooter at the Battle of the Alamo." The second presentation by Oralia Garza de Cortes will discuss the following issues: accessibility in the publishing of Latino/a children’s literature; community advocacy for literature that matters; and library programs and services to promote Latino literacy.  These presentations will be followed by a community conversation about literacy and advocacy.
