Know your rights when interacting with law enforcement officers and immigration officials, presented by Krystal Gómez. Krystal Gómez is originally from the Rio Grande Valley and grew up less than two miles from the Mexican border. Before entering private practice, she led the ACLU of Texas's Immigrants' Rights Campaign, focusing on border issues (including abuse of border crossers by federal authorities, conditions of confinement for non-citizens in custody, and the increasing criminalization of immigrants). Ms. Gómez has also worked with the Equal Justice Center recovering unpaid wages for low-income workers. She received her B.A. in Government and the Center for Mexican American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin, during which time she worked as a community organizer in East Austin. Ms. Gómez then earned her J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law where she received the 2010 Francisco Leos Award for Clinical Excellence for her work in the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic.

All are welcome!
