Texturing with Multimodal Texts Across Content Areas: A Translanguaging Multiliteracies Approach to Teaching and Learning.

The portfolio plática by Lucía Cárdenas Curiel will outline how a bilingual teacher incorporated multimodal texts to enhance emergent bilinguals’ learning in the content areas, consequently building a classroom space for more equitable linguistic practices.

Lucía Cárdenas Curiel is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction with a Graduate Portfolio in Mexican American and Latina/o Studies. Her co-supervisors are Cinthia S. Salinas, Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (University of Texas at Austin) and Deborah Palmer, Associate Professor in the School of Education (University of Colorado, Boulder).
