Making Meaning of Community: A Multi-Case Study of Three Urban, Middle-School Teachers

In this portfolio plática, Racheal Rothrock examines teachers’ conceptualizations of community—specifically student communities—and use in teaching practices. Her research suggests that while community may be crucial for teaching, it is not without pitfalls.

Racheal M. Rothrock is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction with a Graduate Portofolio in Mexican American and Latina/o Studies. Her dissertation supervisor is Keffrelyn D. Brown, Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
