Xenophon’s Hiero depicts a short dialogue between a famous poet named Simonides and a tyrant,Hiero.  In our discussion, we will investigate Xenophon's critique of the tyrannical regime and the role pleasure, love, and honor play in the impulse towards tyranny.

Christopher Sanfilipo, a student of classical political thought and graduate student in the Department of Government, will host the discussion.
