Jefferson Movie Night: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

We are screening the classic film Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. It's a depression-era film starring Jimmy Stewart as an unlikely Senate appointee. The film touches on the issue of the possibility and extent of political involvement and whether we, as individual citizens, still retain any power in our political society. I think this is an issue that concerns all of us, especially as young people coming into our citizenship for perhaps the first time. Also, the movie is on the American Film Institute's Top 100 Films list and is considered one of the quintessential whistle-blowing American films.
