Lunchtime Seminar Panel Discussion: Approaches to Reading Hamlet

Thu, September 20, 2018 | BAT 5.108

12:30 PM - 2:00 AM

For our first lunchtime seminar of the year for the Jefferson Scholars program, CTI will be trying out a new format: a faculty panel discussion! With the Actors from the London Stage performing Hamlet that week both on campus and at the Winedale Barn (see the link below for more information), we will be holding a panel discussion on different ways of approaching the play, covering issues relating to performance, the status of the text, and the ideas contained in it.

We are thrilled to have Professor James Loehlin, the Director of the Shakespeare at Winedale program, as one of our speakers. The other panelists will be Dr. Elon Lang of the Jefferson Center, who teaches our Masterworks of World Drama class, and Dr. Erik Dempsey of CTI and the Department of Government, who has taught courses on Shakespeare's politics.

We'll be serving a light lunch together with the discussion. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to the CTI email address (cti@austin.utexas.edu).
