Biography
Dr. Timmerman, Assistant Dean of the Undergraduate Program and Associate Professor at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, has been involved in research focused on health promotion with a specific focus on nonpurge binge eating and weight in women. Dr. Timmerman's research seeks to develop a sound theoretical basis for individualized interventions to achieve long-term weight loss and prevention of weight gain in nonpurge binge eaters. Dr. Timmerman has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in health promotion and regularly guest lectures on topics of binge eating, weight management in women, and assessment of nutritional status and obesity. Her research project, Dieting, Deprivation and Nonpurge Binge Eating in Women, as well as a minority supplement for an undergraduate nursing student, has been funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research at the National Institutes of Health.
