Dr. Robert Town, the James L. and Nancy Powell Centennial Professor of Economics, has recently received two prestigious awards for his research.

2018 Willard Manning Award

The American Society of Health Economists (ASHEcon) has chosen Dr. Town and three of his co-authors as the winner of the 2018 Willard Manning Award, which recognizes the best published health economics research in econometric methodology or econometric application. The award was based upon Dr. Town's paper, "Estimating Price Sensitivity of Economic Agents using Discontinuity in Nonlinear Contracts," which was published last year in Quantitative Economics and was co-authored with Dr. Patrick Bajari (Amazon), Dr. Han Hong (Stanford), and Minjun Park (UC-Berkeley).

2018 PURC Prize

The Public Utility Research Center (PURC) has chosen Dr. Town as the winner of the 2018 PURC Prize for the best paper in regulatory economics presented at the annual International Industrial Organization Conference (IIOC). The paper, entitled "Regulating Innovation with Uncertain Quality: Information, Risk, and Access in Medical Devices," is co-authored with Dr. Matthew Grennan (University of Pennsylvania) and was presented in April at the IIOC conference in Indianapolis.
