About Sophie Chiari

Sophie is Senior Lecturer in English Literature at Aix-Marseille University, France. She specializes in Shakespeare and translation studies and has written several articles on Elizabethan drama, translation and poetry. She is the author of a monograph on The Image of the Labyrinth in the Renaissance (Honoré Champion, 2010) and she also published a French translation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (Livre de poche classique, 2011) as well as a revised edition of Renaissance Tales of Desire (CSP, 2012), which now comprises four early modern rewritings of Ovid’s Metamorphoses.

She is currently working on several book projects. First as editor of the proceedings of an international conference on “Transmission and Transgression in Early Modern England” which she organized in Aix en Provence last December; then as author of a monograph on William Shakespeare and Robert Greene (Classiques Garnier); and finally as a translator in a long-terme collaborative project on Tennessee Williams’ complete dramatic works (Editions théâtrales).
