Professor Jesús Rodríguez-Velasco: “How to believe a dead animal skin"

Jesús Rodríguez-Velasco teaches Medieval and Early Modern Studies at Columbia University. He has taught at the University of California, Berkeley; the Universidad de Salamanca; the Université de Paris III (Sorbonne Nouvelle); and the École Normale Supérieure (Lettres et Sciences Humaines). Among his publications are books and articles on medieval and early modern knighthood, history of law, material culture, and medieval political theory.

His latest book is Order and Chivalry: Knighthood and Citizenship in Late Medieval Castile (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2010).

His article “La urgente presencia de las Siete Partidas” (“The Vital Presence of The Siete Partidas”;  La Corónica 38 [Spring 2010]: 97-134) is the winner of the 2010 John K. Walsh award (given annually to the author of an outstanding article published in the previous volume of La corónica, the official MLA publication of the MLA Division on Medieval Hispanic Languages, Literatures and Cultures).
