In Commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of 9/11: A celebration of peace and humanity

The City of Austin and Austin Sister Cities International will commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with The September Concert at 6 p . m . on Monday , September 12 at City Hall, 301 W. 2nd Street.

Austin children’s chorus groups, U Better Sing and Austin Children’s Choir, will harness the power and joy of music to unite diverse communities and promote goodwill. The chorus will perform “Give Us Hope,” a tribute that will be sung at each September Concert event around the globe, including Houston; New York City; Viola, Czech Republic; Madrid and Japan.

Founded on the first anniversary of September 11th by Sister Cities International, The September Concert is a New York-based, now global event which envelops the world in music surrounding the date and aims to bring together communities in celebration of peace and humanity. The event is free and open to the public.

Representatives from Austin’s international sister cities will share information about sister city exchanges and highlight the benefits of these partnerships. Austin participates in three exchanges with each sister city each year in the areas of economic development, art, music, culture, humanitarian aid, and education.

The September Concert was founded under the auspices of UNESCO, with an endorsement from former President Bill Clinton.
