Austin Jewish Film Festival: Restoration

The second of four screenings in conjunction with the tenth annual Austin Jewish Film Festival.

In the wake of his business partner's death, Yakov Fidelman (Sasson Gabai) must pit himself against his own son, Noah (Nevo Kimchi), to save his antique restoration workshop from collapse. While Noah seems determined to sell the failing business, Yakov enlists the help of a mysterious young apprentice, Anton (Henry David) in making enough money to keep the shop afloat. Tensions rise as soon Anton finds himself battling Noah for the affections of not just Yakov, but also Noah's pregnant wife, Hava (Sarah Adler).

Restoration (2011) is the second feature film from Israeli director Yossi Madmoni, and his first solo feature. (He co-wrote and co-directed the critically acclaimed 2003 film The Barbecue People.) It was the only Israeli film featured as an official selection at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. The Schusterman Center is proud to present it as the second film in its week of screenings of Austin Jewish Film Festival selections. View the trailer here.
