Congratulations Professor Wettlaufer!

The Department of French and Italian congratulates Professor Alexandra Wettlaufer for being a recipient of a Liberal Arts Council Endowed Teaching Award. This award is given annually to four professors in the College of Liberal Arts for demonstrating outstanding teaching and a commitment to their students and the College. The Liberal Arts Council solicits and reviews student nominations and selects recipients on the basis of character, classroom interactions, and personal achievements.

Alexandra K. Wettlaufer is a Professor of French and Comparative Literature, specializing in 19th century literature. She is on the Editorial Boards of European Romantic Review, Nineteenth-Century Studies, George Sand Studies, and Nineteenth-Century Contexts and has served on the Advisory Boards of the American Comparative Literature Association, Nineteenth-Century French Studies Association, Interdisciplinary Nineteenth-Century Studies and on the Executive Council of the Modern Language Association.  Professor Wettlaufer is a core faculty member of the Comp Lit, Women's and Gender Studies, and European Studies. She is also the Associate Director of the Plan II Honors Program.

The Liberal Arts Council serves as the official voice for students in the College of Liberal Arts. The Council represents students in academic affairs as a voting member of the Senate of College Councils and acts as a liaison between students and administration. The Council also offers students opportunities for community service, promotes student and faculty interaction, and prepares students for the professional world.
