FRIT Departmental (French and Italian)

The 2021-2022 academic year scholarship application is now closed. The 2022-2023 academic year scholarship application will be available Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 12:01am through Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:45pm.

  • Annual departmental undergraduate scholarships are awarded by the Department of French & Italian every Spring. Please use the Departmental Scholarship Application to apply.
  • All applications will require 2 letters of recommendation to complete application submission.
  • Students who have completed and submitted their application will receive a follow-up email with a personalized link for submission of recommendation letters and other supporting documents within 2 business days (M-F) of their online application submission.

IFE Scholarship (French Only)

The 2021-2022 academic year scholarship application is now closed. The 2022-2023 academic year scholarship application will be available Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 12:01am through Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:45pm.

  • There are also scholarships available for students participating in IFE (Internships in Francophone Europe). 
  • An annual IFE scholarship is awarded by the Department of French and Italian every Spring semester for the following academic year. Please use the IFE Scholarship Application to apply.
  • Applicants must be declared French majors.
  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 to apply.
  • Applicants must have a French coursework GPA of at least 3.5 to apply.
  • Applicants must have completed at least FR 322E (or 6hrs of upper division FR coursework) to apply.
  • All applications will require 2 letters of recommendation to complete application submission. At least 1 letter should come from a faculty member in French at UT.
  • Students who have completed and submitted their application will receive a follow-up email with a personalized link for submission of recommendation letters and other supporting documents within 2 business days (M-F) of their online application submission.

  • Please note that applying for the scholarship is separate from applying to the IFE program through Texas Global. Students will need to apply to both the IFE program and IFE scholarship to be eligible to receive the IFE scholarship. Please pay close attention to Texas Global program application deadlines, as they will differ from the scholarship deadline.

 

SITE Stipend-Paid ESL Teaching Internship (Italian Only)

The 2021-2022 academic year scholarship application is now closed. The 2022-2023 academic year scholarship application will be available Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 12:01am through Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:45pm.

  • The SITE (Study Intercultural Training Experience) Program is a stipend-paid internship opportunity for English-speaking teaching assistant in schools in Lombardy, Italy.
  • The stipend is 700 euros per month.
  • Italian majors and minors graduating no later than Spring 2022 are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 to be eligible to apply.
  • The department sponsors awards of this internship funding annually in the Spring. Please use the SITE Internship Application to apply.
  • Applicants must also submit a cover letter stating:  motivation, interest in the program, and self-introduction (500-700 words).
  • Applicants must provide an unofficial transcript of university grades including the most recent term of study.
  • Applicants must provide a demo class on a topic of the candidate's choice in order to demonstrate an ability to work as a teaching assistant in an ESL classroom in Italy.
