Sara Eshleman, a Master’s student in the Department of Geography and the Environment at UT Austin, was awarded a prestigious NDSEG (National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate) Fellowship. Sara was one of 195 awardees, from over 3,500 applicants, to receive four years of graduate funding including tuition, fees, and a monthly stipend.

The Department of Defense (DoD) awards this fellowship to students who demonstrate an aptitude for science and engineering. The fellowship, founded in 1989, strives to increase the number and quality of scientists and engineers working in the United States. The award is sponsored by three offices within the DoD, including the Army Research Office, which sponsored Sara’s award.
