The International Biogeography Society held a special meeting to commemorate the anniversary of Humboldt’s 250th birthday. The meeting was held at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador on the 5-9 of August 2019. PhD candidate Sisimac Duchicela gave a talk as part of the symposium “Diversity patterns along latitudinal and environmental gradients across the Andes,” which showcased studies that are part of the Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environment (G.L.O.R.I.A.). Her paper presentation titled: “Effects of experimental climate warming and nutrient addition on plant community and productivity in tropical mountain grasslands” gave preliminary results on warming experiments using open-top chambers installed on the Pichincha Volcanic Complex in Ecuador, a site once visited by Alexander von Humboldt.
