Geographers attend SWAAG meetings in Arkansas
Participants in the Department field trip to Arkansas, at Hot Springs, Arkansas, with local field trip leader.

UT Geographers were well represented at the 2009 Southwest Association of American Geographers meetings in Little Rock, Arkansas, October 29 - Nov 1, 2009.  Eight graduate students and four faculty attended, with most also participating in a Department-sponsored field trip to and from the meetings.  Paul Hudson provided an informative field trip stop in the Red River Valley to discuss fluvial geomorphology. An overnight stop in Hot Springs, Arkansas, included a walking tour of the physical and cultural geography of the springs and their history.  Grad student Othoniel Vázquez Domínguez won an award for his poster presentation. The UT Department of Geography and the Environment will be hosting the 2011 SWAAG meetings in Austin.
