Fatih Akın’s award-winning film Head-On juxtaposes local scenes of Hamburg-Altona and Istanbul while telling the slowly developing love story of a young Turkish-German, Sibel (Sibel Kekili) and the middle-aged, resignated Cahit (Birol Ünel). Sibel wants to escape her patriarchal family and Cahit, who has not much more in his life than alcohol and a filthy efficiency, needs some structure in his life. Out of pity for Sibel, Cahit agrees to a sham wedding. While Sibel enjoys her new freedom of life and experiments with sex, drugs,and rock-and-roll, Cahit reorders his life and begins to develop an emotional attachment to Sibel...
