UT Gender Symposium presents "'How Common Culture Shapes the Separate Lives': Sexuality, Race, and the History of Social Constructionist Thought," a lunch seminar with graduate students by Yale Professor of History and American Studies, Dr. Joanne Meyerowitz.

Dr. Meyerowitz is the author of Women Adrift: Independent Wage Earners in Chicago, 1880-1930 (1988) and How Sex Changed: A History of Transsexuality in the United States (2002), and the editor of Not June Cleaver: Women and Gender in Postwar America, 1945-1960 (1994) and History and September 11th (2003). From 1999 to 2004, she was the editor of the Journal of American History. Her current project examines theories of human difference in the mid-twentieth-century U.S.
