Normandy Scholars Graduate

Tue, May 23, 2006

Some Normandy Scholars are planning to start law school in the fall, or graduate school in France, while others are taking off a year from studies to head out to California to see whether fortune and fame are still to be found in the gold-rush state.

None can believe a year ago this month they were in Europe visiting World War II-related sites: Normandy, Paris, London, and Berlin. All say it was one of the highlights of their educational experience at the University.

Danny MacDonald, NS '05, will be attending George Washington University law school in the fall.

Chris McHone, NS '04, will be working this summer at the Camp Coca Cola Foundation in Wyoming. He will be leading their third-year students on a two-week-long backpacking trip in Wyoming.

At the end of the summer, McHone will return to Paris to begin a Master's program in International Relations and Development at l'Institut d'études politiques, (Sciences Po Paris--for an English explanation of this school, see Wikipedia's web site).Offsite Link

Zach Smith, NS '04, will be interning for a federal judge in his hometown of Corpus Christi over the summer. In the fall, he will be attending Yale Law School.

Smith was also awarded the History Department's Professor Lewis L. Gould Prize for best senior thesis in American History at graduation.
