Jorge Cañizares-Esguerra delivers keynote lectures spanning the globe in 2019

Dr. Jorge Cañizares-Esguerra, Alice Drysdale Sheffield Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austin, delivered eight invited lectures at a host of international conferences and universities in 2019.

Professor Cañizares-Esguerra, who is also a Distinguished Professor on the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO), a Distinguished Luverhulme Visiting Professor at the University of London, and Nancy-Lyman-Roelker-Mentorship Awardee (American Historical Association), began the distinguished lecture circuit at Columbia University in New York City, and concluded at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.

Prof. Cañizares-Esguerra also managed to deliver a few talks at UT not mentioned above. “Inventing Humboldt and Reinventing Epistemic Colonialism,” for the History and Philosophy of Science Colloquium (read more here), and “Radical Politics in 16th Century ‘Spanish’ America: The Continental Mobilization of Indigenous Slaves and Commoners” for the Institute for Historical Studies (info), where he is a Fellow this year under the "Collectives and Commons" theme.
