A Case of Exploding Mangoes, Mohammed Hanif's first novel, made the longlist for the Booker prize, and was shortlisted for the Commonwealth literary prize and the Guardian first book award. It won the Shakti Bhatt first book award. His newest novel, Our Lady of Alice Bhatti, was published in 2011. Based in Karachi, he works as a special correspondent for BBC Urdu.
