Mon, May 5, 2014

Humanities Institute Faculty Affiliates Elizabeth Pomeroy, professor in the School of Social Work, and Samuel Gosling, professor in the Department of Psychology, were named to the University's Academy of Distinguished Teachers. Dr. Pomeroy participated in the 2009-2010 Fellows Seminar, "Intellectual Life at Moments of Crisis;" Dr. Gosling participated in the 2008-2009 Seminar, "Ethical Life in a Global Society."

Created in 1995, the Academy recognizes tenured faculty for their contributions to education, especially at the undergraduate level. Deans nominate new members, with feedback from faculty, students, and Academy members from the prospective members's department. An ad hoc committee of faculty and students reviews the faculty nominations and recommends honorees to the provost. The provost makes the final selections.
