The Department of Psychology and the Institute for Mental Health Research (IMHR) at the University of Texas at Austin invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2015. We seek a candidate with an outstanding research program in any area related to mental health research, although applicants with strong expertise in one of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: (a) measurement of real-world behavior in its natural environment; (b) application of data-intensive scientific discovery to mental health; and (c) advanced statistical and quantitative methods. 
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong, extramurally funded research program, collaborate with IMHR faculty, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, direct graduate research, produce demonstrated evidence of successful research productivity, exhibit a commitment to service, and support and enhance a diverse learning and work environment. Candidates should have a PhD in Psychology or related field, an excellent record of research and service, and an exemplary teaching record (or promise of such) at the university level. The Institute for Mental Health Research is a newly established academic research unit at the University of Texas at Austin. The successful applicant for the current position will also be appointed in the Department of Psychology, although there is a possibility for appointments in other appropriate departments (e.g., Neurobiology, Pharmacy, Integrative Biology). Researchers affiliated with the IMHR conduct research that ranges from basic behavioral research with normal populations to treatment trials with clinical populations. A unifying theme among IMHR faculty is an interest in how basic behavioral research can be used to understand and treat mental illness and behavioral disorders.
