Black Policy & Tea series kicks off once again

This week, IUPRA held the first Black Policy & Tea event of the semester, a series created to hold open discussions on various aspects of race and policy. The series began in the spring 2017 semester as a monthly event, designed to give attendees a laidback, roundtable feel to allow for discussion and debate.

The first event of the semester was held Tuesday, Oct. 17, and was a presentation given by IUPRA Director Dr. Kevin Cokley on his experiences conducting de-escalation training for cadets of the Travis County Sheriff's Office. Through his affiliation with the 100 Black Men of Austin organization, Cokley was asked by the office to be involved in the creation of training tactics, as well as carrying them out in August 2017.

Stay tuned for the next Black Policy & Tea event of the semester and thank you to all who joined us!
