IUPRA accepting applications for Post-Doctoral Social Science Research Fellow Position
Apply by May 31 to be a post-doctoral fellow at IUPRA!

The mission of the Institute for Urban Policy Research & Analysis (IUPRA) is to advocate for equality of access, opportunity, and choice for African Americans and the poor through applied policy research. The Institute’s staff, research fellows, and graduate students will generate publications, reports, briefs, grants, contracts, legal analysis, and legislative testimony with the aim of shaping policy discourse to enhance the lives of African Americans and other people of color.

IUPRA was developed in 2010 through the collaborative efforts of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus, the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies, and the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. Development of IUPRA was envisioned as an important method for understanding the impact of public policies on African Americans and other people of color.

To fulfill its mission, IUPRA is seeking to fill a post-doctoral position that will focus on race and public policy. The position will be filled by a social scientist with background and knowledge in various quantitative and qualitative methodologies as these apply to policy issues that affect African Americans and other communities of color.

The post-doctoral scholar will work with IUPRA staff in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, grant writing, submission of peer reviewed journal articles, and preparation of policy briefs.  IUPRA provides information useful to legislators, the general public, and communities. Scholars will be expected to publish articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. There will be opportunities to collaborate on grants to support ongoing and future research, as well as opportunities to present research findings at local, national, and international conferences. There may also be opportunities for teaching experience.
