What is a Data Analyst?

As a Capital One® data analyst, your goal is to solve complex data challenges that enable insights into customer behavior and operational performance. As a Data Analyst you will participate in our Analyst Development Program where you will start your career as a full-fledged member of our team from day one. Some examples of projects that you may work on as a data analyst include:
- Using data mining techniques to identify fraud rings
- Testing the effectiveness of our marketing channels
- Building the data foundation for Capital One’s digital agenda
- Optimizing bank ATM placement through advanced data exploration
- Understanding what problems create customer calls through data mining interaction records
- Analyzing online servicing and web-tracking patterns

Basic Qualifications
- Current student or alumni of UT Austin
- Will obtain or have obtained a Bachelors degree or higher between December 2013 and August 2015

Preferred Qualifications
- In process of obtaining a Bachelors Degree or higher in a quantitative major, including engineering, computer science, business, economics, mathematics or finance
- Strong quantitative, analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
