MISSION/ENVIRONMENT: 
The Austin Film Festival furthers the art and craft of filmmaking by inspiring and championing the work of screenwriters, filmmakers, and all artists who us the language of film and television to tell a story. 

While working for this critically recognized organization, applicants are expected to be able to work efficiently and professional in a fast paced, team-oriented production environment. In such and environment, the ability to work well under pressure, excellent communication skills and intense organizational skills are a must. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 
The Theater Operations Intern will support the Theater Operations Manager in managing and coordinating all film venue logistics, organizing all venue materials, and preparing Front of House requirements in order to create a positive festival experience for filmmakers and audiences during the 22nd annual Austin Film Festival. In addition to pre-festival preparation, this intern will travel with the Manager throughout the duration of the festival and act as an assistant during the event for troubleshooting, theater management, and any day of operations functions needed to make the festival a success. 


HOURS: 

Hours will vary between 12-15hrs per week leading up to and following the Festival. (We can discuss what hours work with applicant’s schedule, but a set schedule is preferred.) 

During the Festival (Thursday, October 29 – Thursday, November 5), most days will begin with the AFF morning staff meeting (7am) and conclude an hour after the last screening ends. 


REQUIREMENTS: 
Excellent time management 
Ability to communicate effectively in a straightforward manner and accept direction 
Responds to phone calls, texts, and emails promptly and professionally 
Comfortable working with PCs and Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Word and Excel 
Knowledge of performance, theater, and or film venues (especially front of house) 
Excellent interpersonal skills 
Strong problem-solving skills 
Ability to handle stressful situations and act professionally at all times 
Great writing and editing skills in regards to grammar, spelling, and vocabulary 
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. 


**This is an UNPAID internship. For compensation, you'll be given a film badge dependent upon hours worked.
