The Journalism & Development intern will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced nonprofit environment focused on promoting academic success for students in underserved communities. 

As an APIE intern, you will have opportunities to observe our programs, interview participants, and learn about the grant research and application process. 

• Schedule: M-F, flexible between 9am-5pm 
• Work-study positions are available for those who qualify 
• Academic credit available 

• Interview and photograph student, teacher, and volunteer program participants 
• Contribute to organization’s blog and social media outlets, using interview material 
• Research funding opportunities 
• Assist with assembly of grant proposals 
• Provide administrative assistance as needed 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills 
• Organizational skills and flexibility a must 
• Ability to multi-task and work independently to meet goals and deadlines 
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications 
• Photography experience a plus 
• Valid driver’s license with access to reliable private transportation a plus 

• College juniors or seniors preferred 
• Experience in education or nonprofit environments a plus. 

• Part-time, unpaid position 
• Work-study positions are available for those who qualify 
• Academic credit available
